Djibouti to Send 140 Troops to Central African Republic Djibouti is sending a gendarmerie contingent to the Central African Republic, Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf announced on Saturday (April 19) that Djibouti would be sending a contingent of 140 gendarmes to help train and provide guidance to the police and gendarmerie of the Central African Republic. The announcement came the Minister had met the African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, Ambassador Smail Chergui who had also met with President Ismail Omar Guelleh. Ambassador Chergui said he was pleased by the positive response” of Djibouti to the request by the African Union, an don the AU’s behalf he thanked President Ismail for the valuable support that Djibouti is giving to various peace missions in Africa, including Somalia.
