Do I Need a Will? This is an often asked question. Do clients need to have a Last Will and Testament. We assure them that they do not need to make a Will. The State of Michigan is more than happy to make a Will for those who have not made their own plan. Instead of a Will, it is called intestate succession. It is a Michigan statute that decides who will inherit from someone when they do not have a Will. Certainly, this is not advisable. We recommend that everyone make a Will. If cost is an issue, you can get a statutory will from your State Representative’s office or State Senator’s office. It is free and will suffice for very simple estates: you just fill in the blanks.
