Do anyone remember the Russell Community, about 15 to 20 miles I think South of Mangum. there were two stores there, Sam Days and I do not remember the name of the other one. Also a filing station and maybe a couple of churches. One of the stores had a balcony and on Saturday people would come and sit in their cars and be entertained by local people. When I was just probably ten (1946) or maybe a bit later, i remember singing from that balcony. When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again. My grandmother and grandfather ( Thad and Beulah Silk )lived on the road to the stores about l0 miles before you got there. Also between their turnoff and the stores was Centralview School, where I went for three or maybe four years. When I went back several years ago and drove around with my grandmother the school was actually a pig pen. I dont remember that we even checked on the stores which were probably long gone. Does anyone remember any of this. It occurred to me while I was typing that this was really a long time ago.
