Do either the new senior Gaeltacht Minister, Heather Humphreys, or - TopicsExpress

Do either the new senior Gaeltacht Minister, Heather Humphreys, or her new Minister for State with responsibility for the Gaeltacht, Joe McHugh, have sufficient competence in #gaeilge to explain their decsions - good and bad - to the people of the Gaeltacht and the growing Irish language community throughout Ireland (and further afield) on TG4 or Raidió na Gaeltachta (Oifigiúil) ? Is it wrong or impudent or somehow unwelcoming to ask, while congratulating them on their promotions, the question? Will they - or their minions - find some other additional way to punish us for asking the question? Even though this is a democracy, those who have raised their head above the parapet have been punished severely. How can Ministers, without Irish, administer in an area where language planning, promotion and preservation are central responsibilities now more than ever without that basic ability? Are they being set up by Enda Kenny and Joan Burton to take a massive fall when they inevitably decide something controversial and find they cant explain it adequately or at all to those affected because they cant speak their language, the official first language of the state? Is the Department of the Gaeltacht the new Angola?
