We have something very serious to talk about. The images you are - TopicsExpress

We have something very serious to talk about. The images you are looking at are part of the Abandoned Project. In this project we profiled dogs in shelters all over the county, which include Cal City. Josh Bradley captured these images for us in 2012. We have been rescuing dogs from Cal City Since 2008, when virtually no other rescues made it out that way. We have rescued 50-75 from that shelter with the help of Joelyne. I love Officer Joelyne (the ACO in charge) and believe she may have the toughest job on the planet. She is the end all be all of that shelter, which means she brings them in and she must also put them down. Some terrible things have been said and propagated about Marleys Mutts and the Cal City Shelter that preposterous at best. Marleys Mutts Dog rescue has been accused of killing 15 dogs in Cal City to make room and this complete untruth must be addressed honestly. Marleys Mutts Dog Rescue saves the lives of as many dogs as we can from Kern Countys high kill shelters. We cannot always rescue them because we rely on foster parents, dont have a conventional facility and therefore dont have room. What we can do in these instances is use our social media clout to help bring attention to dogs that are languishing at the shelter and need to saved. Efforts such as the Abandoned Project are not as good as pulling them out of there but it is a solid effort to affect positive change. Last week we went out to Cal City Shelter, a very under-serviced shelter to lend our services by completely vaccinating 20 dogs as well as photographing them with the hopes that other rescues and individuals would see the images and go out there and rescue or adopt. By vaccinating adoptable dogs, they are more easily adopted by the public and rescue and have some sort of protection against illness. We also brought a Veterinarian with us who did a preliminary exam of each animal. Our intentions were to do the best with what we had at the time and help facilitate some good. Several rescues and rescuers took exception with our efforts and said we had done all of the dogs a disservice by not rescuing them and that they had died because of our inaction. Aside from being complete malarkey, it hurts to see that written and accepted by others as true. There is no room for this type of venomous propaganda and it should be chanted down. We would ask that you kindly and politely address these comments truthfully if you seem them on Facebook so that the BS may cease. Speak about what you know to be true of Marleys Mutts and our efforts. Thank you.
