Do nothing out of selfish ambition, but in humility, consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should not look only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4 We are not called to serve one another for the gratification of our self. We are called to serve in the attitude and mindset of Christ (v5). It is not the serving that is the mere problem. Paul addresses here that it is the attitude behind the service that needs to be addressed. We think ourselves better than others and therefore do not wish to serve others that we deem undeserving. Remember we are as undeserving and guilty as the next person. But praise be to God for the grace that has been given freely to us. So serve in happiness and in joy. Serve as Christ served. Give all and give out of love and expect nothing in return for your reward will be in heaven.
