Do these photos mean we should soon expect a marriage between APC and new PDP? by Segun Odeleye Yesterday in Sokoto, the state government commissioned the Sokoto State University, built by the governor, Aliyu Wamakko. The speeches at the event was devoid of politics; however the event was clearly political. The faces at the event showed that there is something cooking between the camps of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the factional Peoples Democratic Party. Most of the governors who make up the G7 were present, including Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano, and host governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto. Those of Adamawa, Niger and Kwara were however absent. The speaker of the house of representatives who has always been an opposition sympathiser and who enjoys a close relationship with Gov. Wamakko was also present, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, as well as several APC stalwarts were there as well. They include Bola Tinubu, Muhammadu Buhari, Bisi Akande, Ali Modu Sheriff, and many others. Already, Gov. Murtala Nyako of Adamawa has shown keen interest in moving to the APC and with Tuesday’s event it seems most of the G7 governors fancy that move as well. It will be curious to see if the new PDP moves en masse to the APC especially considering some very hostile statements which were recently made against the APC by Sule Lamido, the Jigawa governor, as well as the turbulent relationship between the APC and the PDP in Kwara state for instance. Anyway here are some photos from the Sokoto state university commissioning.
