Do you even Community? My Da has been a Community Worker his whole life, and he has taught me a lot of things. One that always sticks with me is that “life boils down to our human relationships. After all is said and done, thats what you have left”. Facing into a tough session with others around you is far better than facing into it alone. Doing that on a daily basis, week-in-week-out, is what builds long lasting friendships. A random group of people training together is not a community. It only becomes a community when people begin to actively support each other in their goals, and therefore contribute to the culture of their gym. Personal victories are always that bit sweeter when surrounded by friends. Then there’s the wider CrossFit community which is connected not on Facebook pages, but by drop-in visits from Berlin, Texas, Toronto and Bray. Our members regularly pop in to other boxes while travelling, meeting new people and making new connections. There’s an instant common language between total strangers and a feeling of being part of something much bigger than yourself. This is why CrossFitters never shut up about CrossFit. It builds positive human relationships and that is invaluable.
