Do you have a favourite poem? Today is national poetry day and to celebrate we have a treat for you. A Karen Bowman original.. Oops… When Tom was ill, one day in bed, A vinegar bandage round his head, And spots the size of coconuts With aches and pains that gripped his guts, A wizard on a skateboard crashed In through the roof ‘My bedroom’s trashed!’ Cried Tom. ‘Look at the mess you’ve made.’ The wizard, looking quite dismayed, Reached in his pocket, bright and red And tossed its contents on the bed. ‘I’m sure there’s something here for mess.’ Tom heard the wizard now confess: ‘Because I fly a bit off line, I have to clear up all the time.’ ‘Well, hurry ‘cos if my mum finds The way you’ve shredded her new blinds She wont see sense. Wont be realistic. She’ll hit the ceiling, Go ballistic’. The wizard said: ‘It wasn’t meant ‘ And waved his wand, (now sadly bent) And then, with magic cleverly mixed, Cried ‘ MEND IT’ and the room was fixed. ‘I’m off ‘ he yelled, then went and wedged Himself upon the window ledge. And once he was prepared to fly, He launched himself into the sky . Tom closed his eyes, laid back to rest And thought of his unwelcome guest. Then heard a most indignant roar - The wizard had CRASHED into next door. By Karen Bowman
