Do you have a passion for fashion, books, and Memphis Public Libraries? Then, you’ll love the Memphis Public Library & Information Center’s National Library Card Sign-up Month FASHION SHOW on Friday, September 6, 2013, 4 pm – 5:30 pm at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library (3030 Poplar Avenue)! Readers of all ages will experience the thrill of walking the runway, while sporting trendy styles and the Library’s perfect accessory – books! Celebrating National Library Card Sign-up Month (September), fashion show participants will wow the crowd and encourage all citizens of Greater Memphis to add the “smartest” card to their wallets. “National Library Card Month is a reminder to our customers that with a Library card, they have access to our vast collections and services,” said Central Library Manager Stacey Smith, “and the fashion show will give customers who haven’t been to the Library in a while the chance to see new features we offer. Books, e-books, audio books, magazines, records, CDs, DVDs, WiFi, laptops for checkout, educational programs, homework help centers, computer classes, and tons more are all available at Memphis Public Libraries. With a Library card in hand, customers can cash in to these benefits free of charge. “A Library card is a customer’s ticket! Wherever the destination, whatever the subject, the Library can get them there,” Smith commented. “I’m excited about this event and highlighting the importance of having a Library card. We hope to register many new Library customers during National Library Card Sign-up Month!” For more information about MPLIC’s National Library Card Sign-up Month Fashion Show, call (901) 415-2847 or email [email protected].
