Do you have a relationship with the Bible, or do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Bible? There is a difference. Merely studying the Bible and reading it is not sufficient. We read Scripture in order to find Christ and enjoy a personal relationship with him. The Pharisees studied Gods word but rejected Christ. We should love the Bible, reverence the Bible, and recognize the unique, divine authority of the Bible, but the goal in all of this is to experience Christ by means of the Bible. As Jesus himself said, You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me (John 5.39). The Bible is not an end in itself; it leads us to Christ.
