QUOTE OF THE DAY: “one can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.” LESSON OF THE DAY: EXPOSE YOURSELF TO ENLARGING EXPERIENCES [8th Session on Enlarging yourself] Most of us at a point in time wanted to become either a police-officer, teacher or a nurse because that was all we were exposed to. If you have never had an experience with a smart phone/laptop/tablet, it is most likely that you pin them as a luxury. Whenever you expose yourself to enlarging experiences you actually plant within yourself that desire to soar, to rise, to fly, and to achieve greatness. Some of the enlarging experiences are conferences and seminars, special events, trips, meetings with great men and women etc. Those kinds of experiences will make a tremendous impact on you, the idea is; 1. To take you from your comfort zone 2. Move you to think beyond yourself 3. Challenge you to go to new levels of living Last time I was introducing this training on enlarging yourself, I gave examples of people’s skills that got used up. For instance, the people who settled for a job as an elevator operator in the mid-20th century became used up in 21st century, now even a 4 year old can operate an elevator without any help. I hope you are getting the idea. If all you desired was to become a fuel attendant for example, soon with this technology, the system will no longer require your services, meaning your skills will be used up. If you are a student, find out how you can bring a greater change to your world by studying that course, don’t just look at your personal benefits; that is small thinking, let your community/nation become the primary beneficiary of your work & skill. Like I said, my idea is to take you from your comfort zone, move you to think beyond yourself, and to challenge you to go to the new levels of living. I want to move you from where you are just ok or just fine, to do and be better, to stretch yourself to grow to the point of looking at other people’s needs, to be the solution to companies & societies at large. That job/position that you aspiring to have, is that all you can do? I believe you can do more, I believe you can in more. Expose yourself to enlarging experiences. As an architect, the first time I got inside the soccer city [FNB] stadium in South Africa, I was challenged to think beyond what I had in mind, not just as a professional, but as an individual, to see what a single thought from one man’s head can be translated into a big infrastructure that can take thousands of people at once. I believe you can agree with me that if one has never seen an aero plane for example, he is limited in so many ways. In whatever field you might be in, there “an aero plane” that you have not seen, go ahead and see your aero plane; it will improve your level of thinking and living.
