Do you have advice for Stephanie? My 2 1/2 year old son climbed out and back into his crib more than once about 5 weeks ago. We decided to set up his toddler bed. My son would usually go right to sleep in his crib. We would read to him and then he would play for about 15 minutes and fall asleep. Ever since we set up his toddler bed his routine has gotten all off. We have a 9 week old baby that is sleeping in our bedroom and my toddler is upset that hes not in the room with his brother. When we were trying to get him to sleep in his toddler bed (we tried for 5 nights in a row) it would turn into a two hour long process. He would get to the point where he was so tired but kept trying to run out of his room and refusing to stay in his bed. We just kept putting him back in his bed and tried not making it a big deal. He would finally fall asleep out of exhaustion and about three hours later wake up and run into our bedroom and we were too tired and would just let him sleep with us. My husband and I finally agreed that he has a lot going on with the new baby being in his life and we are letting him sleep in bed with us. We are having a lot of issues with this because he will only go to bed when we go to sleep and he isnt getting enough sleep in his night because of this. If we try to go to bed earlier he will put up a fight by hitting and licking and trying to get out of bed. Also, nap time is becoming a struggle. I lay down with him but hes trying to get out of bed and wander around. I know hes tired!! What should we do? I really wish he would sleep in his toddler bed in his room and I miss the happy son I had when he used to fall right to sleep in his crib. Im starting to resent him and I feel awful. I feel like hes gotten much more aggressive and I know its hard on him with having a new brother.
