Do you know about DICTIONARY PROJECT? Education has given many of us the opportunities to lead a better quality life and attain our goals. However, for thousands of Nepali children, education remains a distant dream - due to poverty, caste, gender discrimination and lack of access to schools. The quality education remains the most important tool towards the realization of rights of all children. Why Dictionary? Dictionaries of all kinds play a critical role in a child’s development. Unfortunately in Nepal, most children do not have access to dictionaries beyond basic school textbooks. Dictionaries are slightly a luxury to have in Nepal and are a rarity in many government schools in the remote villages of Nepal. English dictionary available helps to encourage independent learning, intellectual curiosity, and a lifelong passion for reading. Project “Dictionary” Project “DICTIONARY” is a literacy program initiated by Rotaract Club of Kathmandu, sponsored by Rotary Club of Kathmandu, RI District 3292 with a goal to support English Dictionaries to the students of grade 9 and 10 of Bhag Bhairab Higher Secondary School, Kaleshwor VDC of Lalitpur district to benefit more than 150 school going children. It means 150 dictionaries to 150 students of the school. We believe that every single person can make a difference through "Dictionary" project. Goal: The goal of this project is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Vision: With the support of local and international sponsor, we want to provide a dictionary to every students of grade 9 & 10 of Bhag Bhairab Higher Secondary School. In this way we hope to improve their communication skills & improve literacy in Lalitpur. About the project site Bhag Bhairab Higher Secondary School is located at Kaleshwor VDC, Ward No-7 in Lalitpur district. The school was established in 2022 BS and was founded by the different members of the village community with around 7 Ropani of land. The school has got classes running from 1 to 12 with a separate kinder garden section. How This Campaign Runs? This campaign runs with your generous support. Rotaract Club of Kathmandu initiated this campaign for everyone who is passionate about making difference in Bhag Bhairab Higher Secondary School by investing little effort. Every one of you can contribute and participate in this campaign by donating a dictionary. The project will: Create awareness about the importance of dictionary Assist students to properly use and maintain the dictionary Create habits of Learning Improve the quality of education How to support? Share our project with members of your community, coworkers, employees, and friends.
