Do you know what today is? It’s national MUTT day! Since the majority of our own dogs are mutts, we thought this would be a perfect time to share our new August special, “A love for our Longtimers.” Some of our animals have been at the facility for months now, and even though we LOVE taking care of them, it’s apparent that they need to get out of the daily shelter life and find their forever homes. With that being said, we are taking $20 OFF all adoption fees for these certain animals! What’s better than getting an animal that’s already experienced and needs little to no training? If you were wondering why today is national mutt day, it’s because the majority of the shelters are filled with mixed breed dogs around this time. This day was created in 2005 to bring awareness and to educate the public about how mixed breed dogs tend to be healthier and better behaved. They live longer and are just as able to perform the duties of pure bred dogs such as bomb and drug sniffing, search and rescue and guiding the blind! Isnt that awesome? People sometimes wonder why everyone goes CRAZY for mutts (just like we do) and it’s because they are mixed with some cool breeds! Just like one of our longtimers, Lucy (who is also FEE WAIVED). This gorgeous brindle girl is mixed with retriever, terrier, and a little bit of everything! It definitely shows in her personality too. She LOVES water, cuddling, walks well on a leash, housebroken, sleeps wonderfully in a crate, and also enjoys car rides. Lucy has been with us since February when she was surrendered by her owner that was moving into a new home that didnt allow pets. While she is an amazing girl, we have noticed that she would work better in a home where she is the only animal. She is the true definition of what this day is! We just wanted to take the time and honor these amazing dogs that we do have in representation of today. If you are curious about any of them or our new special, stop by our facility this weekend or give us a call! We would love to help you and hopefully, you could be helping one of our “longtimers” and see a little bit of what we see in our animals every single day.
