Do you remember your Ps and Qs ? Yes, thats the norm here. You thank the taxi driver, the shop assistant, the bus driver and so on. You thank people for letting you in when driving or for holding a door open. You never EVER cut in front of someone in a queue. You also say sorry when someone bumps into you. Im not sure were unusually kind as a nation, but we are a lot of people on a small island and these little politenesses help.
