Do you suppose the day of the dead dick bench in small town America is gone forever? You know, the bench where the old men set on the benches downtown and spit and whittle. I was fortunate to witness one of the last truely expert bullshiters in his final years as lone bench occupant. Troys job was to wave at all passers and give directions to the best explanation he could to sights about Liberty Hill. Troy was also quick to give his political views and any other topic he felt strongly about. He would also remind you that God loved you. Least thats my memory of him, I loved Troy. He was a special neighbor and friend. Now I say all that to say this, I hope one day to see the tradition resurrected. Maybe one day it will be me and James Wear sitting there among others in downtown Liberty Hill. I look forward to it. Or maybe we could have a rotating bench and I can come over and sit on the bench with you Florence boys once in a while. But I hear there are pretty proficient bullshitters for competition there. Thoughts? comments?
