“Do you think there are spaces catering to the happily middle-aged feminist online?” This is the question that stuck out to Tami and me after we took part in a Tweetchat about intergenerational feminism. As much as she knew, Tami said, --that 40-something women participate in digital feminism --that digital feminism gave us outlets to hone our thinking about feminism, --and that women of color like bell hooks specifically deeply influenced the “intersectional feminism” that’s gaining traction with feminists younger than we are–especially the white ones, sites where Black feminists and other feminists of color our age can stay honing our feminism are quickly narrowing. The feminist, even the Black ones, sites are geared towards feminist who are, at oldest, 30-something. And, except for a few blogs run by individuals, “I’m not sure that black media, even black media directed toward women, has embraced feminism,” Tami mused. Thus…this blog, which premieres Sunday, 9/15!
