Do you towel dry your hair? Did you know that HOW you use a towel on your hair can make a huge difference in how healthy you hair looks? When you towel dry your hair the goal should be to get as much water out of the hair as possible as gently as you can. Think of your hair like a beautiful angora sweater. You wouldn’t take your old polyester towels that you use for cleaning to rub it dry, now would you? Of course not! Once we start thinking of our hair as a fiber it makes a difference in how you treat it. If you rub your hair with a towel to dry it you are actually roughing up the cuticle layer, which can lead to damage, breakage, and dull hair. The solution here is simple…instead of rubbing your hair to dry it try squeezing, blotting or scrunching it instead. Another thing that you can do is use a more expensive towel. Polyester is a harsher fabric so towel made of any polyester blend will be tougher on your hair than others. A high quality cotton or microfiber towel will be more gentle on your hair.
