Do you want to catch the directors eye / the cameras eye ? *Understanding the story that is being conveyed by your characters DRAMATIC ACTION is so vital (and so much fun to portray). It addresses so much more than the lines. After all this is film not radio. We are meant to watch. Turn the sound down and see if you can tell whats going on with a character who is just saying lines. * Also the CLARITY in the shifting of a characters focus speaks volumes on camera. * Understanding how and when the dynamics shift, taking us on a journey beyond just listening to lines. It moves us like music. * I myself, as a coach and an actor, have found new ways to uncover rich and fully realized characters in and out. I am working now more than ever. Directors look for all of this. The journey taken, the moments of composition. How it will all play out on screen. These aspects are beautiful to the eye and to the heart. *I will show you all sorts of ways to explore the above possibilities Come expand your creative territory and strengthen your abilities. CK has had two original productions at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC. (including one with a President and First Lady in the audience ) and she has toured nationally in a number of her others. She has frequently been invited into film roles by working associates, or former students turned directors. CK garnered wonderful reviews in her co-leading role in THIS IS WHERE WE LIVE, which was one of 8 films nominated for best feature at 2013 SxSW. The little film that could won various awards at 15 film fests and had theatrical runs in NYC and Dallas. CK has a memorable role in former student Alejandro Monteverdes $24 million film LITTLE BOY, coming in Feb 2015. Recently CK had 5 scenes with Oscar winner Robert Duval in A NIGHT IN OLD MEXICO ( Redbox) which premiered at the 2014 SxSW. A clip of CK and Duval made the rounds of all the talk shows during this summers press tour. She is currently working on re writes for her first feature, due to shoot 2015. This is the tip of the iceberg for CKs career. A committed true blue coach, CK teaches with passion, heart and risk to help actors make their scenes cook, their characters alive and real, and not polite, safe, or ordinary. She is committed to her own evolution as a coach, taking classes herself ( like the stars still do) bringing new ideas and approaches to Alleywood. She is also one of only a very few coaches in Austin who is a working actor. RECOMMENDATIONS from Shakey Graves, Steve Prince and Alejandro Monterverde. STEVE PRINCE LA Director, Writer, Producer -THE MOVING PICTURE SHOW COMPANY “Run, dont walk, to an acting workshop with CK McFarland. There isnt a more creative, Dynamic teacher around than CK. I have had the pleasure of teaching with her and I learned as much as I taught. I am a former Meisner coach and realized my students needed CKs perspective as well .. I filled my notebook with thoughts and techniques I learned while listening to CK critique our students. Her workshop is a safe place to push yourself beyond your perceived limitations while inspiring confidence in your craft. If I were looking to work with a coach, I would study with CK. ALEJANDRO MONTEVERDE Director writer of BELLA -WINNER - PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD - THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL and LITTLE BOY ( coming Feb 2015 ) CK McFarlands unique approach to acting can take you deep into the soul of a character, finding layers you may not have realized were possible. She really helped me understand the power of a great performance. This was vital in my career as a Film Director, and I owe CK for that. SHAKEY GRAVES -- ALEJANDRO ROSE GARCIA Almost famous ( NPR/ Rolling Stone) singer song writer CK understands being a good actor isn’t a destination, it’s a lifestyle. The things she teaches you won’t simply enable you to hit a mark or make an interesting choice, but to get a job and deserve it. As a mentor and a friend, she reminds me that having patience, heart, and integrity is the key to a career in the potentially cold industry of acting. There is always something any actor can learn from CK McFarland, no matter how experienced. __._,_.___ Posted by: CK McFarland
