Doctor Carl Tabane gave this report: “We have assessed Katlego and we are glad to announce that the player has not suffered any injuries or bruises, which means the player is fine and will resume training on Thursday. We have decided to give him a day off and when he reports back to training on Thursday we will then reassess him to make sure that everything is ok” Mphela had just returned from a training session at Chloorkop before the accident, but is not the only Sundowns player to have been involved in a car accident in the month of July. Goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni was also involved in a near fatal car accident a day before the trip to Ghana. Ngobeni also walked away from the accident without any injuries and is doing full training with the rest of the team.
