Doctor Who: Engines of War by George Mann. An epic novel of the Great Time War featuring the War Doctor as played by John Hurt. Events happening in the novel are prior to Day of the Doctor, in short a prologue for DotD. Go on with the Doctor and his new companion, Cinder on a journey trying to find means of end to the Last Great Time War, battling against the Daleks and the Time Lords themselves. Engines of War shows us how this endless war that has been getting on for eternity reach its inevitable conclusion. It depicts the eccentricity and strictness of the Doctor whilst still having him cracking dry humour with his companion and all of that while running all around and about investigating this and that. Hes the Doctor, curiosity will always gets the better of him! The Daleks achieved a new way to end the war and better, eradicating Gallifrey. Thus, rewriting all histories and condemning the universe. The Doctor needed to warn the Time Lords on what are they actually against with. But unfortunately, the Time Lords led by the Lord President, Rassilon took it the wrong way. They intended to drop the Tears of Isha in the heart of Tantalus Eye in the Spiral that will explode killing the Daleks and their newly advanced technology along with billions of life inhabiting 12 planets in the Spiral. The death of billions is as nothing to us Doctor, if it helps defeat the Daleks. No being should have held that kind of power, the power to decide whether who lives and who dies. The ending, very much, changed the Doctors paradigm on the war. The promise, just two simple words; NO MORE. Verdict. 10/10. As a fan of Doctor Who, I enjoyed this War Doctor novel thoroughly. It sure does give the fans more insights on the Time War. Would love to see this on screen, which would never happen in all of time and space. Anyway kudos to George Mann for this epic story.
