Doctor’s Day First observed in 1933, Doctor’s Day is a national celebration to recognize and honor the contributions of doctors to individual lives and communities. All those Americans who serve as licensed physicians have engaged in years of study and training, often at great financial cost. Most endure long and unpredictable hours, and many must cope with the conflicting demands of work and family life.” Here at the PVAMC, we recognize the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our doctors and are especially proud that they have committed their careers to serving those who have served. This year, for the first time, PVAMC is observing Doctor’s Day. We invited the full staff to nominate a “Doctor of the Year” and are proud to report that thirty physicians were nominated by their colleagues for this prestigious recognition. Today we recognize an individual who was nominated by 22 of her colleagues; a physician who exemplifies the VA Core Values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect and Excellence. Dr. Cecelia Roman is a board certified internist and cardiologist, she trained in the Philadelphia area, completing her cardiology fellowship at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey. She has been a valued member of the Department of Veteran’s Affairs since 2003. She currently provides care for Veterans at the Fort Dix and Saracini CBOCs.
