Does anyone else shop the thrift stores for fabric and UFOs? I - TopicsExpress

Does anyone else shop the thrift stores for fabric and UFOs? I make a bee line to that section of the store and have rescued several UFOs that were donated for some unknown reason. I like to wonder about why the quilt top was donated, maybe the maker passed away and relatives didnt realize the treasure in the unfinished quilt top, or know how to finish it. Maybe the maker fell out of love with the project and wanted it out of her life! For whatever reason there it is waiting for someone like me to rescue and love it to completion. Today Im machine quilting such a quilt. A top that I found partially completed, with pattern and all the pieces including the binding cut and ready to go. Quilting on a budget I also shop thrift stores for fabric and I aced the backing for this quilt at another thrift store, already sewn together and just the right size for this quilt top. All told this quilt which is generous lap or couch throw size has cost me $12. I sewed together leftover batting pieces for the batting and had all the thread I needed to complete the machine quilting. Hoping to get that done today and post a photo of the top after its completed.
