Does anyone here read Dean Koontz? I only ask because the adaptation of Odd Thomas was one of the most mind blowing spot on interpretations Ive seen in forever. I know he doesnt do comics but I hold him in the same class as Stephen King (albeit his red headed stepchild) and Stephens stories have translated well(Dark Tower and the Stand) anyways I actually have only read one novel from the Odd series the first one but it really is almost a perfect book with a wise cracking nerdy lead with a burden of responsibility. One of the main problems with these types of films and a lot of comic films is most of the characterization is an internal voice and that does not translate well. I thought the genius of this adaptation was not only how true to the book it was but also how he would talk to himself during moments alone just enough to be believable and to frame his personality. I think this film will be a benchmark on how to approach this kind of subject matter.
