Does anyone here remember the ease of travelling through airports - TopicsExpress

Does anyone here remember the ease of travelling through airports or customs before 9/11 compared to the difficulty going through security after 9/11? Even before 9/11 you needed a valid ID, and after 9/11 the least of your concerns were just provided your ID. Homeland Security was created in response to the need for better security after 9/11. Sometimes you need to take your shoes off. There are restrictions on how much and how you carry liquids. You cant get on a flight without going through ex-ray machines. There are terrorists that would diligently, and with great sophistication, look for ways to enter the US and assault American citizens. These people are willing to die for their cause. And, now we have a long stretch of border that does not check for identity. Does not check liquids. Does not check shoes. I want to know what is stopping terrorists from first travelling to a country in South America and then entering our country. Terrorists methods are extremely sophisticated. What if they disguise themselves as a family of three - a mother and her two children? Whats to stop them from creating sophisticated documents that say they are from South America and then entering our country under the guise of wanting a better life on our sides of the border?
