Does anyone know this: I used to believe (as I was told) that computers analyze positions based more or less on the brute force method: they pick a move and analyze it out to a conclusion determined by a programming algorithm, and then assign a numeric value to it. Then they pick a second move and do the same, etc. As they analyze each move for the second time, the numeric value assigned to each line gives it a priority that determines when the line will be looked at a second time. Assuming thats true (or WAS true), does anybody know if the methodology has changed? Im reading a book by John Nunn that was reprinted (not written, but REPRINTED) in 1998. If that method HAS changed, can someone briefly describe the NEW method? Thanks! :)
