Does citizenship mean anything to you? What about civic duty? Or does it mean something only if theres some personal benefit to be gained from it? Do you amputate a leg because you have a festering sore on it? America, the citadel of democracy that we purport to emulate, went through 5 years of unprecedented economic hardship and downturn. One in which we witnessed businesses folding, bank failures, high unemployment, soaring business and personal bankruptcies, real estate prices plummeting, loss of homes, huge losses of share value, and 401K plans wiped out! But at no time during the economic hardship did you witness the level of acrimony and sheer street level ignorance that bordered on treason displaced here in Ghana. Where you have intellectual lightweights using words like incompetent and inept to describe an administration that has just taken the reins of power. Theres no sense of the urgency that comes with being together in a boat that has sprung a leak. So lets put all hands on deck to plug the hole. No! Some (they know themselves all too well) are too busy salivating, licking their chops and scheming to make Ghana ungovernable! Dreaming of power! Power! Power! Treasonous, I tell you! Alas, it was not meant to be. We shall stay the course, undeterred and steadfast in our quest to plug the leak. With the wind on our back, the unending mercy and favor of Allah shining our way, we shall find a path and blaze a trail. A straight path to deliver on the promises, sector by sector, from one hamlet to the next till we shall all say yes, Alhamdulillah. Thank God Almighty for His favors. God bless you. God bless Ghana.
