Does everyone know about this??? MEMORIES OF MADEIRA STREET Dear Accies Further to the recent Newsletter, wed like to confirm details of the event to be held at the former Greenock Academy in Madeira Street. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the school opening on that site. The last episode of Waterloo Road has now been recorded and the production company has kindly allowed us access to the school for our function, Memories of Madeira Street. The committee would like to thank Ian McCrorie who undertook negotiations with the TV company It is being held on SATURDAY THIRTEENTH OF SEPTEMBER 2014 , 7 for 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £10. There will be a welcome glass of fizz and finger food, so for those inclined to imbibe, please BYOB and perhaps your own cool bag if required - and of course it doesn’t matter which Greenock Academy building you attended – all Accies welcome. Email your requests for tickets to [email protected] and your tickets will await you at the door – requests by Friday the 5th of September at the latest please. Could you also please send payment for ticket orders by cheque made payable to Greenock Academicals to Lynne Chambers, 9 Sandend Place, Inverkip, Greenock PA16 0HU. Payment may also be made on the night but ticket requests must have been lodged in advance. Feel free to bring along photographs and other memorabilia. No doubt there will be impromptu speeches with memories of the good old days. We hope it will be a memorable evening as we say goodbye to the Madeira Street school. The evening is very informal but we hope it will be an opportunity to meet friends and say farewell to the old building.
