Dog saved toddler from snake. 2007.Australia.The abused and neglected doberman had just been adopted four days earlier by a family with a seventeen-month-old little girl. Little Charlotte was playing in her mother’s garden one morning when Khan, the doberman, realized something was wrong. He spotted a deadly King Brown snake and immediately tried to alert the little girl. He growled and nudged her, trying to get her to move out of the serpent’s path. When that didn’t work, he grabbed her by the back of the shirt and threw her several feet. The heroic act caused the snake to strike, biting the doberman in the foot. After a dose of anti-venom, however, he fully recovered from the incident. His vet said that Khan only narrowly escaped death because the snake didn’t inject much venom. The family was amazed at Khan’s selfless and protective act of loyalty, especially after having such a terrible start to life and only being with the family for less than a week.
