Dogs Deserve Better has started a Sole for a Soul shoe collection drive running through December 7. The drives purpose is to spread awareness about the correlation between animal and human abuse while raising funds for the formerly chained and penned dogs residing at our Good Newz Rehabilitation Center. We all feel passionate about memorializing the dogs that were tortured and died on this property when it was owned by NFL star Michael Vick, so our goal is to collect enough soles to completely fill up one of the sheds where Vicks Bad Newz Kennels practiced organized dog fighting. With Vick currently representing Nike shoes again, this is a good chance for people to donate their old Nike and other shoes to help raise funds and donate shoes to help others. With the current fury of press surrounding spousal abuse in the NFL, we feel that this drive will increase awareness about the correlations between animal abusers and violent crimes against humans. In addition to helping Dogs Deserve Better continue their efforts to rehabilitate formerly penned and chained dogs and place them into loving homes, the shoes will benefit MicroEnterprise partners through Funds2Orgs and be shipped to developing nations for impoverished people to incubate and grow a unique business opportunity. The shoes provide the means to feed, clothe, and house their families. Our goal is to acquire 3,000 pairs of shoes.
