Doing my final, fine-toothed read-through of Sacred Commerce, 2nd Ed. by Ayman Sawaf and Rowan Gabrielle before we send it to the layout designer. This quote really stands out for me as carrying one of the primary insights of this book... Jealousy is called “the green-eyed monster” for good reason and, along with anger and fear, can be one of the most troublesome human emotions, because of the passion it evokes. Merchant Priests were highly sensitized to jealousy, learning first to experience it fully in themselves. Tending to emotion in a literate and intelligent way, acolytes learned to listen to what “the green-eyed monster” had to say, seeing it as an ally. By respecting the emotion as a communication containing vital information, they would listen to its signal and learn about what they truly wanted, lifting it to a state of grace — the ability to receive what is truly theirs.
