Donna Tarts earlier novel, The Secret History is one of my favorites. I bought The Goldfinch last year simply because she wrote it. I forget exactly why, but I put it down after reading only a chapter or two. This article has reminded me to revisit the book and approach it with different expectations. From experience, the books I sometimes find to be initially disinteresting, later are those considered among my favorites. And did I read The Goldfinch is essentially reminiscent of the YA genre? Not to hard to imagine since The Secret History is a modern YA Fiction classic!
