Dont Cry Over the Spilled Milk PAY ATTENTION TO THE INDIAN FLAG UPSIDE DOWN We Indians having a population of well over 1.21 billion could manage only a single podium finish(silver medal) and that too in doubles in the racket game known as Table Tennis. You all are very well aware of the Table Tennis team India performance in all the seven events. Lets ask one practical question.: How many times did we see both the national champions get into the playing arena??????? Ankita Das n Sanil Shetty share the honours. Now the focus is on the English Olympiad Ankita is an Olympian n same is the status 4 Soumyajit Ghosh!!!!! Both were in the contingent for the England Olympics 2012. Sanil Shetty being a left handed player should have been included in a doubles pair. Now comes the team selection---- The team did not have three Arjuna Awardees Mouma Das, Soumyadeep Roy n Subhajit Saha. If they are said old warhorses who could not make into the Indian team coz of the point system. Thus the young lot was tried to give them experience n improve their skill in the times to come. To this I would strongly contradict that COMMONWEALTH GAMES is not just a classroom for learning. The Indian Table Tennis team travels n participates along with a lot of people to do the same. Next, it was reported that the players of the team were not serious . To this now I would pass the batton to the management. They selected the team, which the coaches accepted n they were sent to Glasgow. From the said venue its reported that the players, not being serious doesn’t hold any value. Now the team was selected completely on merit. The players who have got in through their ranking are definitely better than the rest. As Shibaji said nobody is serious, hes perfect in his view. An example I would quote during his time, they all loved playing football as an other game and when the lights went out they used to start playing with the rackets in their left hand. This was luved more than their main sport. That was the time when Chetan Baboor had beaten Atanda Musa of Nigeria and the impeccable Olympic Gold medallist Liu Guoliang of China. The players are students of an institution and over there, it is the work of the management, the officials n the non playing staff to take care of all such activities, as it is on their shoulder to take responsibility of the team. Strictly saying they should be taking care of all these things not happening. Something should also be remarked on the kind of heroics shown by Anthony Amal Raj. Now who should be held responsible 4 this. Doing it 4 the first time in Lucknow Senior Nationals was as said a mistake then I would term the kind of similar incident in the BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES – a habit. It is a serious thing against the ethics n discipline of the game Who should be held responsible 4 this habit of his. The Indian Table Tennis teams have been getting best of everything they’ve required n travelled around the globe to so called “ACCLAMATISING” to the challenging competition environment, but the result chart reads bloody 1/7. That too a silver medal in doubles. Finally I would mark it all by saying that the Indian Table Tennis Team was not optimistic even before departure. The Indian team captain made all sort of pessimistic remarks on the Govt. Of India of the kind of boarding and lodging provided to them in NIS Patiala....... You all must be well aware that the gentleman trains in Germany major part of the year. Somebody too remarked A. Sharath Kamal would atleast get a bronze. I close by saying Indian Table Tennis has to go some distance. I have written this today as I do not have to go for any selection trials now[u all r aware of the reason]. Everyone please, I request u all to comment “FOR” or “AGAINST” this write-up.
