Dont care what anyone says, Brendan Rodgers has done wonder at Liverpool. He came in at a very difficult time, everyone was devastated when Kenny was sack and tbh, still to this day I feel he was hard done by. Anyways, Brendan came into a football that had just won the league cup and reached the FA Cup final under a manager they adored. He came in with supporters like myself who struggled to see improvement from two cup finals. Obviously our league position needed to be improved but trophies are success, 4th place isnt. Brendan came in, lost some senior players such as Bellamy, Kuyt, Maxi and Carroll and had to build a squad. Very little money was invested into the squad and We lost out on Dempsey on deadline day. Brendan kept calm and spoke well and we all kinda took a liking to him. We could what he was trying to do and it worked. We were pretty average first half of the season but after Christmas we came to light, smashing teams by 3/4 goals on a regular basic. That summer Jamie Carragher retired leaving a massive hole on the pitch but more importantly the dressing room but he managed to keep it together a build. Last season we sprung to life, we were a force again. We were watching our club win week in week out. We got our confidence back as supporters and Brendans Liverpool finished second in the league and we were top of the 36 games in, we looked like winning it and lets be honest, we deserved and we were the best team in the league last season. Rodgers then lost Daniel Agger & Luis Suarez who was arguably the best player in the world last season and undoubtably the best in form player in the world. Brendan and the committee then went and spent £100m in the summer to try and build a side strong enough for Europe and a side that wouldnt feel the pinch of Suarez leaving. We beat Southampton first game of the season and two week later after a defeat to Man City we went and destroyed Spurs 3-0. Then we lost Strurrdige who scored 20+ goals for us last season with an injury. We struggled for goals without him and we were conceding for fun. We looked absolutely shite! We couldnt score and we couldnt defend. Then when Sturridge was for to play he got injured again which kept him on for another 6 weeks. As the seasons gone on weve looked like a team. Weve picked up some points and we look half decent again. Weve got a two legged semi final against Chelsea in the league cup approaching and were in the knock outs of Europa. But now Brendan has to face the challenge of replacing his club captain and a man whos been Mr Liverpool for the past 20 years. Steven Gerrard. His playing ability can be replaced but his story, his personally and presents will never ever be replaced. Lets be honest since Brendans been in charge hes lost: Reina, Carra, Suarez, Agger, Kuyt, Bellamy, Maxi and in the summer Steven Gerrard. When you look at manager in the past Gerard Houllier and Rafa both had a bunch of players ready to work with when they came to the club. Obviously they made their adjustments and signed their own players but they always had a foundation to work with. Houllier had Carra Gerrard Owen to work around. Rafa had Carra and Gerrard and built over the years. Rodgers has come and watched 4 senior players get sold and not replaced and has seen the retirement of Carra and is soon saying goodbye to Steven Gerrard. Our Brendans had a bloody hard job and hes done a good job. I know were not the best at the minute but hell take us to glory. Gerrard said in his interview yesterday I wish I had worked with this man when I was 24 because Id be sitting here now talking about all the league titles wed of won together thats coming from Gerrard a man thats won absolutely everything in the game (apart from the premier league) with previous managers. --Jonny--
