Dont cry for me - Malaysia. Time just flies and waits for no one, within two weeks Malaysia will be celebrating her 57th Independence. May be it is timely to remind ourselves what have we become after all these years - as a free and democratic nation with a multi-racial society. A nation that has more than enough for all to live happily together and respect each other. We long for the old days during the late YAM Allahyarham Tunku Abdul Rahman Al- Hajs leadership. Malaysia then was peaceful and full of beautiful dreams. People were simple, down to earth and tolerant. No JAIS, PERKASA, no Ridhuan Abdullah, no abuse of power by all three branches of the Executive, Parliament and the Judiciary. Those were the days. When justice and fairness ruled the day. Where people prayed hard and practised virtues as promulgated by their respective religions. Criminal cases were decided based on the rule of law, regardless of race and background. And of course the standard of living then was relatively low and many places were still undeveloped. Sad to say those were the days that we miss and cherish so much. The society we live in today has turned upside down, money and power are the pursuit of most people, with no conscience and acceptable limits. Just look at the residences and the cars of those in power and you know what I mean. Go to Damansara Heights ( I have been to Ling Liong Siks house before) and you see politicians living in posh and extravagant mansions beyond their means. Scandals after scandals, the cow living in the condominium, Deepak Jaikishan the Carpet Man, the mysterious kilings of Altantuya Shaariibuu, the $40 Million Musa from Sabah, the billionaire White Hair from Sarawak, the $25 Million diamond ring of the self-proclaimed First Lady, and we can go on and on. But there is a blessing in disguise. With the birth of sophisticated internet technology and the presence of the border-less social media, we are better informed. At least we know now not to trust the devilish main media controlled by the corrupt power that be. And we are in a better position to inform others and share correct information with others. And we shall endeavour to disseminate and share facts of the state of affairs in our beloved homeland. Because we care. Because we believe in doing the right thing. So please dont cry for me Malaysia. For we all pray and work hard for a truly independent nation where all its people live in peace and harmony. A big melting pot where Ali, Ah Pok, Thomas, Solibun, Belimbing and Muthu are all but buddies, with one common denomination - Bangsa Malaysia., So please help us God. < Kuala Lumpur versus Auckland >
