Dont often complain via this outlet, but this time I will. Dear Crossfit Berzerk in Deland, FL, It seems that you were the proverbial straw on the camels back. I have tried my best, as a powerlifter and a powerlifting coach, to incorporate my services and lifting discipline into Crossfit gyms without buying wholly into the belief that we are mortal enemies. I reached out to you to offer my services as a powerlifting coach and team starter, with no expectation or request of payment or any other compensation. Why? Because powerlifting is all but dead down here in Central Florida and I just wanted to help the sport I love gain some traction. Your response two weeks later, was that you were too busy to respond in a timely manner, and you werent interested in adding a power lifting coach (yes, you put it in quotes and Im not entirely sure why, although I can only assume it was a slight of some sort). You then went on to belittle me for requesting employment via Facebook, even though I clearly stated that I wasnt seeking any compensation. You have finally convinced me that it is indeed an epidemic disease in Crossfit that nobody is your equal when it comes to the iron game, and that the koolaid is very much real. With the exception of Old Line Crossfit in MD, and The Playground in Fort Lauderdale, FL, every other Crossfit gym Ive come in contact with has been a hate factory of self-grandiose superiority complexes and ignorant closed-mindedness. Its too bad that Crossfit has so many toxic gyms that perpetuate the negative stereotype that proves so often to be true. I dont hate Crossfit, but its hard to like the experiences Ive had with some of its supporters, and particularly gym owners. End rant.
