Don’t Make Me Another Keagan Mumba – Lwandamina GEORGE - TopicsExpress

Don’t Make Me Another Keagan Mumba – Lwandamina GEORGE Lwandamina has advised the Football Association of Zambia against bringing his name into disrepute but accord him the respect he deserves. And Lwandamina says he does not want to be another ‘Keagan Mumba’. The Under-20 coach is at the centre of controversy at Football House, a move which has seen Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) vice-president, Boniface Mwamelo, differ with technical director, Honour Janza, over issues pertaining to the appointment of the junior Chipolopolo trainer. In an interview yesterday, Lwandamina, who is also Zesco coach, urged FAZ to accord him the respect he deserves. “They FAZ have to respect me if that is the case not the way they are putting my name into disrepute. It is always in the papers for what? What wrong have I done?” he asked. Lwandamina said the bitter exchange between the senior FAZ officials was making him popular. “I cannot be worried. Why should I get worried when people are the ones who are taking me that far? They are just making me popular. It may be in bad taste, but it is the popularity that they are giving me. Even those people who forgot about George Lwandamina now they are asking, ‘is he still alive?’ It’s good after they see my name,” he said. Lwandamina, however, said he was hopeful that FAZ would resolve the matter administratively. “I am told it will be dealt with administratively. But unfortunately, it is still coming out in the press. Those are our bosses. No one has ever spoken to me. I am a Zambian, so I cannot say no to a call up to the national duty. Maybe I can say no if Botswana is looking for me, I can say no, but not for my country,” he said. Lwandamina, however, said he would not turn down the offer to coach any of the national teams. “Whether I am interested or not in the Under-20 coaching job other people will speak on my behalf,” he said. And Lwandamina said he would not want to be labelled a rebel by being critical in his career. “They FAZ want to turn me into another Keagan Mumba, may his soul rest in peace. You know what used to happen to Keagan Mumba, that is what they want to do to me. It is better I keep quiet. People will not be able to realise who is wrong or right,” he said. “Even if you do something good, some people will still criticise you. Some people even when you do wrong things, they will still support you and that is the balance of nature.” Lwanadmina further said the confusion at Football House was not good to the development of football. “It cannot be good. Every job; it is not just football, at any work place harmony should be there. If you are to work towards the same goal, there must be harmony. Without harmony then you are working with different goals and that organisation cannot attain its primary objectives,” said Lwandamina.
