Double Bill: DIVERGENT + MR PEABODY & SHERMAN Boy chick-flicks have gone a notch up, way up! Divergent reminded me a lot of Hunger Games and the girl looks a lot, I mean a lot, like Jennifer Lawrence, moreover, the production company Lionsgate is the same one that made Hunger Games. Then there is the training process, like HG where the once weak girl gradually becomes stronger and stronger, see what I mean. The cast also includes Ashley Judd and Kate Winslet - I told you it was a chick flick. But the best thing in the movie is perhaps the leader guy called Four- hell be a star soon. And theres also a Twilight angle to it but thats just a little bit. The idea is actually pretty neat and the movie it done quite well, in an no-nonsense style. Its a post apocalyptic world and the system is flawed, people are put in groups: farmers, police, scientists, judges, doctors- the problem starts when one group tries to take over. there is a ceremony where teenagers cut their hands, with the same knife (isnt it dangerous, I mean, what about disease), choose to join a group. The use of pop songs in a sci-fi creates quite an exciting effect. One flaw in the movie is that faction test scene at the beginning doesnt really work, it should have been done with more care- after all thats when the girl learns shes faction-less ie. divergent. A pretty good sci-fi. Enjoyed this one more than Captain America. Mr. Peabody and Sherman is a lot of fun. Its a little movie, hardly one and half hour, but full of time-travel gags of 2000 years- from Egypt to Troy, from Da Vinci to George Washington that sort of thing- quite entertaining.
