Double edged sword: I got an email from my writing professor telling me about a couple network mentoring programs/workshops that he thinks I should apply to. He also wants to pass along some of my work to a friend of his who used to write for the TV series "Eureka", as he thinks a referral letter from an established writer would go a long way. (Plus, his/her feedback would NOT hurt.) Both of these things are MIND BOGGLING. However, on the off chance that I would even get into a mentoring program or workshop, I would have to live in California for a minimum of 6-12 weeks and up to 6 months! So, while I am THRILLED, you can see why I am not bouncing off the walls excited. I wish I could say who his writer friend is, but I was asked not to. Damn it. Name dropping would make me feel important.
