Down memory lane. Anyone following this wall would have known that I have a liking for music, more so, percussion instruments. We were a lot that grew up with the Beatles during Senior Cambridge days, the 70s. Thus one was a Ringo Starr, trying to drum the classroom table to impress one Seemachalam, a pretty girl nearly twice my size. Nearly all the boys were trying some form of impression! A decade plus, during London days, my favorite was drummer cum singer, Phil Collins. It was freaking when Phil performed at the Wembley Stadium in London for Live Aid, took a Concorde to cross the Atlantic to perform in Philadelphia….. The faint drumming was going on in the mind only to become profound during doctoral theses. It was neither the satisfaction of law studies nor the double doctorate but Marxist jurisprudence planted a new seed…. There were different questions and I was hearing a different Drummer reminding me of my dna. Man proposes, God disposes. I never got to be in any band playing the drums. Yet, Someone, Kind and Merciful, all the more Loving, from Somewhere handed me a Damaru……Over time, after rough and long but loving roads pointed by a strict Shaiva Siddha guru, I earned the Grace of my Divine Mother, Her love and above all, Her laps. As for Seemachalam, I don’t have a clue where she is, but she may have been right from the material standpoint, after 40 years I am still a proletariat, am I not? And I love it and love God more.
