Enviado: miércoles, 17 de julio de 2013 02:01:19 p.m. Para: dr_pluma@hotmail CC: Editorial Office - TheOncologist (editorialoffice@theoncologist) Dear Dr. Pluma Jimenez, The Editors have read the abstract of your study, “Oral metronomic administration of cyclophosphamide and vinorelbine in previously treated patients with metastatic breast cancer: Phase II trial,” presented as a poster at ASCO 2011. If you have not already published the full results of this trial elsewhere, we believe that the Clinical Trial Results (CTR) section of The Oncologist may offer an appropriate vehicle for the international publication of the study. An innovative approach to disseminating the results of clinical trials, the section is led by Section Editors Drs. Tito Fojo and Susan Bates of the NCI. Motivated by their belief that every trial, regardless of outcome, can have a benefit to the research community, Drs. Fojo and Bates have optimized the section for phase I and phase II trials that inform researchers of adverse events, pharmacokinetics, and trial design. The format promises rapid publication—usually within 5 weeks—and results that are fully indexed by PubMed. Clinical Trial Results comprise two parts: 1. A brief Author Summary, to be published in print. This summary allows the reader to quickly grasp the aim and design of the study. It is made up of a structured abstract (200 words or less) containing four sections: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion; followed by a brief Discussion. This Discussion can take one of two forms: a. 350 words and two salient graphics, such as a table, schema, waterfall plot, image or graph b. 450 words with a single salient graphic 2. The full data set, incorporating all supporting documentation and an extended Discussion, to be published online. Authors are allowed 1000 words for the extended online Discussion. The data published online to support the author summary is the property of the authors. We have published the results from 13 trials already; you can review them here (bit.ly/1astZF5). Several more are in preparation. To have your trial results considered for publication as a CTR, we invite you to register at the CTR site (clinicaltrialresults.theoncologist) and prepare the submission according to the guidelines available here (authors.theoncologist/images/CTRSummary.pdf). The CTR site is a portal that is welcoming and easy to navigate, and the Editorial Office is on hand to assist with your submission. The section is a work in progress that will only become better and easier with time and growing participation. I hope you will accept our invitation. Yours sincerely, Bruce A. Chabner, MD Editor-in-Chief cc: Antonio Tito Fojo, MD, PhD Susan E. Bates, MD Clinical Trial Results Section Co-Editors
