Dr. Jordan recently became a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He passed a national test to become certified. There are about 1900 Diplomates out of 34000 optometrists nationally. Dr. Jordan was also inducted at a ceremony in Washington, DC, into the National Academies of Practice (NAP) The NAP is comprised of 14 different healthcare specialites and allows only the most distinguished from each profession. The 14 academies are: Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, Osteopathic Medicine, Pharmacy, Podiatric Medicine, Psychology, Social Work, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Veterinarian Medicine. One must be nominated, peer reviewed and elected by the Board of NAP to become a Distinguished Fellow. The NAP was founded to advise governmental bodies/agencies on our healthcare system. It is an interdisciplinary group of healthcare practitioners dedicated to these issues. Dr. Jordan continues to serve as Chairman of the American Optometric Associations Federal Relations Committee and has been reappointed for a 5th year as chair and 15th year on the committee. The committee oversees all advocacy for the AOA in Washington, DC, including Congress, CMS, VA, Dept. of Defense and all other Federal Agencies.
