Dr. Judy Melinek, a medical examiner and Assistant Clinical Professor of Pathology at the UCSF medical center helps to explain the CSI effect and its role in forensics as it applies to the court. Many TV shows depicting the medico-legal are given creative license, and although they do consult with experts, many also stretch the truth, often utilizing technology far beyond its means.
