Dr. W’s Reflections, Ramblings, and Rants... SINCERE FAITH “I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also” (2 Tim 1:5). My grandmother and mother were significant spiritual influences in my life. They didn’t just “talk the talk,” they “walked the walk.” The story of their faith transcended church attendance and involvement. They exhibited and expressed their faith in the everyday moments of life. Their “sincere faith” continues to bless and encourage me. Because of them (and many other people, I might add), I have been the beneficiary of a hand-me-down faith. How about you? Who has been one of the most significant spiritual influences in your life? Who has taught you about Jesus? Who has shown you what it means to live as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ? How has the story of God’s salvation been handed down to you? As Christ followers, we have much for which to be thankful! We can be especially thankful for the precious souls whom God has used to pass down his story of salvation to us. And the example of people like my mother and grandmother can remind all of us that the most vital gift we have to share with others is the gift of our “sincere faith” according to the promise of life that we can know and experience in Jesus Christ.
