Draft Day in my opinion is a really good movie. I will be honest, Im not the biggest football fan in the world but I do enjoy watching the football mainly when its with my family. We have a fantastic cast here such as Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Terry Crews, Chadwick Boseman (42), Denis Leary, Tom Welling (Smallville), David Ramsey (ARROW), and Frank Langella who all do such a great job here and provided highly entertaining on-screen presence. I was really invested in the storyline and how this film takes place in a whole day pretty much as well as how it builds up to the Drafting moment is well-executed and made the film extremely enjoyable. Once the film reaches to the Drafting moment, its pretty intense which honestly made my palms sweat a little and it just amazed me overall how the drafting was handled. In my opinion, its a really interesting film thats well-paced, well-executed, well-acted, and well-directed. I was also extremely impressed by the editing style that this film has which is that when two characters conversate with one another, there is this sliding split screen that happened during those moments that caught my attention. Ivan Reitman who is known for directing films like Stripes, both Ghostbusters movies, and even one of the worst movies of 2011 No Strings Attached did a splendid job directing this film. The only complaint I have with the film is this relationship that Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner have going on, its not a bad thing or anything but it doesnt fit what the main storyline is all about. If youre a die-hard big time crazy football fan then youre going to be entertained by Draft Day but if youre not a football fan or anything, you probably wont care too much for this film. Overall, Draft Day is highly entertaining and its something different for the football genre. We see a lot of inspirational football films but I dont recall seeing a football film about drafting before which is what makes this film very special in my opinion. I give it an Outstanding rating.
