Draft Yarra Heritage Strategy Council is seeking feedback from the community on its draft Yarra Heritage Strategy Yarra is home to many sites, buildings, landscapes, objects and collections of heritage significance which form an integral part of our city’s identity. Local heritage also encompasses the many natural and spiritual places of cultural significance to Yarra’s Traditional Owners, the Wurundjeri people. The draft strategy sets out a plan to effectively manage the city’s heritage buildings, places and objects over the next four years. The strategy provides a strategic framework for Council’s future heritage work and identifies future priorities in the following four key areas: · knowing our heritage; · protecting and managing our heritage; · supporting our heritage; and · promoting and celebrating our heritage. The heritage strategy will assist in conserving the heritage of Yarra in an integrated manner and ensure that our heritage is well understood, celebrated and protected. Have Your Say The public consultation period for the draft Yarra Heritage Strategy is to be held until the 15 August 2014. A copy of the draft Yarra Heritage Strategy is available from yarracity.vic.gov.au/heritage-strategy This website includes a link to a survey on heritage in Yarra which we invite you to complete. Additionally, you can find out more about the draft Yarra Heritage Strategy and provide feedback at a public consultation event. The public consultation will include guest speakers and light refreshments will be provided.
