**Drainage work continues west of Tucson on State Route 86 next week** Work to extend drainage culverts crossing beneath State Route 86 will continue west of Tucson next week as the Arizona Department of Transportation prepares to add paved shoulders to an 8-mile segment of the highway on the Tohono O’odham Nation. Motorists will encounter travel restrictions near San Vicente Road (milepost 131), where the two-lane highway will be reduced to a single lane for use by traffic in both directions. The restriction will be in effect between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23. A pilot vehicle will guide traffic through the restricted area and motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. The posted speed limit approaching the work area will be reduced during work hours and motorists are advised to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility of unscheduled closures or restrictions. Weather also can affect a project schedule. For more information email [email protected] or call the ADOT project hotline at 1.855.712.8530.
