Drinks with Friends- Bordeaux A recent pastel for my exhibition The French Connection currently on show in my Launceston Gallery, Tasmania. Before our time in Saint-Aulaye at the International Pastel Exhibition, we spent a relaxing week in beautiful Bordeaux. Warm evenings enjoying the lovely relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful food and wine. The painting is completed on a ply/canvas board with egg yolk gesso surface. I did an under-painting of a rich golden sienna pastel dissolved with water. This gives the necessary warm temperature to the shadows. I really enjoy this kind of back lit subject and the long afternoon shadows.
