Dripping Springs High School sophomore Seiler Hess and junior Trixie Wilkins have qualified for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 4A All-State Band for 2013-14. Seiler was recognized on the baritone saxophone and Trixie earned the honor based on her performance on the oboe. All-state honors are determined by the results at Area auditions, where individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument. Other DSHS band members auditioning at the Area level in 4A were: seniors Allie Wittman (clarinet), David Kapral (tenor trombone) and Jon Kelley (bass trombone), juniors Sydney Neugebauer (bassoon) and Clarice Norton (trumpet), sophomore M.J. Jadeja (euphonium), and freshmen Ani Metzger (contra bass clarinet) and Michael Martinets (French horn). “Being chosen as a member of a TMEA All-State performing group is an outstanding achievement attained by a small percentage of students who begin the audition process each fall,” said DSISD Director of Bands, Keith Lancaster. “We are so proud of the tradition that Dripping Springs High School students have established at the state level and congratulate not only our two all-state selections, but all of those who auditioned.” All-state musical groups will perform for music educators, family members, and the public at the 2014 TMEA Convention, held in San Antonio’s Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in February. Prior to their performances, students will participate in two days of clinics and rehearsals with some of the best high school musicians in the state.
